FlickrFightr.com – Details for 5/12/2012.
Click the link for details…all in fun…nothing too serious ;)….except this pic won for the 13th also
Oh what fun! My friend Susie let me know about this. I had no idea…been so busy. Cyrus is accepting interviews and TV spots as long as a chewie of some sort is provided in the dressing room.

Meet Jill and her Azteca mare Estrella Luminso…now there’s a name that just rolls off your tongue like poetry…and if you have seen a horse under the Spanish influence, poetry pretty much describes what you are looking at.
Trella (pronounced Trayla) as she is also known as, is an Azteca…which is a breeding between an Andalusian and a AQH. The spanish influence is very strong … you can see it in mustangs in the American and Canadian west…what, did you think those horses are so proud and beautiful by accident? ;)
Well, have a look for yourself

and for the purists, here is the color version :)

Last post before my next book project shoot with Jill and her Azteca mare.
These were taken some wks ago…before things started turning green. Whatever caught my eye with form and color, angles and reflection. Here are some of them
I really liked the blue contrast against the grass, still yellow and dry from winter

I like this one for the linear color patterns even though the photo is not that good
Notice the rocks put in between by wave action…old wharf
Not really an abstract, but so pretty!
Timeless, but not an abstract either…layered and textured significantly :)
Time to get some horses on here again!!!
And sometimes I like to add a few images together, layer, paint and filter and place a horse out of context into a new setting. This one, features Maverick

Well I’ve been warned…don’t mix your genre…people won’t take you serious; you need to specialize if you want people to remember your name. You want them to think of you when they want a certain type of photography. So I’ve been told. So you’ll have to just forgive me since you already know about the dogs and horses and occaisional mysterious kitty…now here’s the third. Landscapes. Well seascapes too. But let’s lump them together. Three sounds so much neater than four. That’s my story and I’m stickin to it.
Ummmm…do broken down old houses fit into the category of landscapes? Let’s say that they do. Thanks.

I really consider the following old a house a rare find. Unfortunately, it was really in a terrible state of decay but had obviously been lovely…say maybe 150 years ago? It stood at the top of small hill with a winding lane up to it. The entrance was guarded by two very old maple trees, obviously once planted with care and an eye to a frame for the house from the road.

The sky was very co-operative with dramatic and grand gestures of emphasis over the crumbling ruin. I climbed the hill and was met with a view of the sea and fields that surrounded this once upon a time cherished house. A local farmer was making use of the fertile ground and you could see that last year’s planting had been corn with well picked ears fallen from the crop gathering, all around; winters birds kept well fed no doubt.

I wonder if someone said their good-byes before this place was abandonned. So many old homes in the rural areas left to the elements….sometimes a case of family disputes; sometimes a case of no one left who cared.

Clearly it’s spring. Must be, cause we have mud and plenty of it. We all know boys like to play in mud, right? No encouragement needed. He wasn’t really all that clean before the mud fest began……..he was a little nobler looking though

Wha cha doin down there? Aren’t cha comin in?
Check out my stride…workin on my extension…
Cause I’m beautiful and I can fly….

Anyone seen my unicorn?
Spring loaded
Stomp that hay….grass is comin in anyway….
Know that hole in the ozone? Well I put it there ~
Rhumba, baby! Rhumba ~
And I can twist too ~
Oh yeah…and I have some workin cow pony in my blood …can you tell?
That’s it buddy. Stand back and let me do my thing ~
Did you get those shots?
I was not expecting all the other horses and certainly not this adorable half grown cat that followed us everywhere when I got to Medea’s barn. I was there for a Friesian shoot, the gorgeous Miss Yashna to be exact. But it seemed that wherever I pointed my camera, there was either another horse or this endearing creature that begged attention.
Since I like to give undivided attention to the main attraction, I decided to do a separate blogpost….a kind of warm up to Yashna’s individual shoot. I just thought I had too many great photos of everyone else to ignore them….you can scroll down for Yashna’s shoot, right after this post
The beautiful kitty with the million dollar stare

I can distinctly hear this mare saying ‘Showoff!’

Yahsna, looking a little worried…such a sensitive girl

A sweet young AMQH filly rescued by Medea…you know you are in the right place when you see this. She is recovering from neglect, a bad wound and putting on some pounds

Always one in the crowd………….

A standardbred mare that had an accident at the track and her owners stood by her and allowed treatment and recovery. She is among friends here.

And well, what can be said here. Mr. well bred here is trying very hard to impress the lady Yashna. I do believe she is spoken for though ;)
Who can doubt the sincerity?

It’s not every day you get to do a photoshoot with a beautiful mare like Yashna. With her elegant neck, peaceful and expressive eyes, sweet nature and excellent conformation, she is every bit a great example of the wonderful Friesian horse.
I did not know there would be a number of horses at Medea’s barn….everywhere I looked, it was a photoshoot ready to happen…if you love horses that is… and I do :)
Yashna hails from Iron Springs Farm in the US and has a wonderful pedigree but it is always the nature of this breed that is so compelling and even touching. This is a horse that is easy to form a deep bond with and Yashna exemplified this as you can see from the photos. Look at those eyes….you cannot miss the tender affection and sweet nature of this beautiful mare.
Medea, you have a wonderful girl there! Thank you so much for the photoshoot and the fun time with all your wonderful horses…and that adorable little kitten you have that followed us everywhere.
I’ll be posting a second set of images from this shoot with some of the other horses and of course the cat.

After his shoot in the pasture by himself, Jen brought Maverick into the paddock for another shoot with her daughter, Samantha. The affection shared between them was obvious even when the playful Maverick reached out to nibble Samantha’s hat. You can see Maverick’s ‘moustache’ in some of these photos…did you know that some drafts have a moustache?

At one point, Maverick got the munchies…….

Thanks Maverick! It was great :)
